Anne Potter - personal statement

Having been born and had my childhood in Nyasaland (Malawi since gaining independence from Britain in the mid-60s) I have a heart for central/eastern Africa.  This passion was re-fuelled in the mid-80s when I spent two years in South Africa and where my second daughter was born.   Following my ordination, I took on the role of Secretary of the Diocesan World Mission Group which led to me being part of a Diocesan partnership visit to the Diocese of Morogoro in Tanzania in 2023.  I felt so much ‘at home’ I joined Mission Morogoro’s visit the following year, which focussed on their amazing links with the village of Tunguli and especially all they have contributed to the work of the Health Clinic, an outreach medical centre to Berega Hospital, under the leadership of Rev’d Canon Issac Mgego including the setting up and running of women’s groups.  I was further enthused by the commitment of this small group of Christians based around the Inkberrow/Feckenham parishes who were inspired by Rev Isaac’s visit to UK and hence visited Tanzania from which MM emerged.  It is truly an honour and a blessing to have been invited to be a Trustee of Mission Morogoro as they continue to support the health and sustainability of the Tunguli community through the special relationship they have nurtured with key village people within the church.
